Full Fathom Five is a Big Finish Productions audio drama based on the long-running British science fiction television series Doctor Who. The Doctor Who Unbound dramas pose a series of "What if...?" questions.

Plot

What if... the Doctor believed that the ends justified the means?

A past mistake, sunken deep beneath the waves, is about to be unearthed; the Doctor now intends to bury it forever and regain the freedom of the TARDIS. Ruth, his companion and adopted daughter, is about to discover that he is not the Time Lord she thinks she knows.

Cast

Other parts played by members of the cast.

Notes

  • The newly regenerated Doctor at the end of the story is played by Ian Brooker, uncredited.
  • The story's title comes from William Shakespeare's The Tempest.
  • David Collings previously appeared as Vorus in Revenge of the Cybermen (1975), Poul in The Robots of Death (1977) and Mawdryn in Mawdryn Undead (1983). In the last of these, Mawdryn masquerades as a newly regenerated Doctor.
  • After Sympathy for the Devil, in which the Master regenerated, this is the second audio drama to feature a Time Lord regenerating. It was the only audio drama to feature the Doctor regenerating until the release of The Sixth Doctor: The Last Adventure in 2015.
  • This Doctor was willing to kill people who had made mistakes in their life, such as Lee who was involved in dangerous experiments to create the ultimate super soldier by using both adults and young children.
