Grace Nono

Grace Nono is a Filipino singer, known for her musical style based on traditional Filipino rhythms.[1]

Biography

Nono was born in Agusan, Mindanao.[2] She holds a bachelor's degree in Humanities and a master's degree in Philippine Studies from the University of the Philippines.[3]

Nono released her debut album "Tao Music", described as "rooted in traditional Filipino rhythms and instrumentation but given modern touches",[1] in 1993. She has won the Katha award for Best World Music Album three times.[1]

Nono is executive director of the Tao Foundation for Culture and Arts and has taught Philippine traditional arts at the University of the Philippines.[4]

In 1994, Nono released her song "Pinoy Ang Dating" was used as the official jingle of the Intercontinental Broadcasting Corporation station I.D during the Philippine Basketball Association games produced by Vintage Sports back in 1996.
