Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur, is a 39-storey hotel in Kuala Lumpur, that officially opened 24 August 2012. The hotel is part of Hyatt Hotels Corporation properties.

Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur, a 412-room hotel, is located within Menara Darussalam which also comprises office spaces from level 3 to 15. The hotel is situated along Jalan Pinang and adjacent to the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. It features entry level rooms at 47 square metres, a Sky Lobby with views of the Petronas Twin Towers and the city skyline, three food and beverage dining options, six meeting and event venues and a spa.

Design

The building was designed by architects WATG, supported by project architects GDP, and the interior designed by Bilkey Llinas Design. The ground floor lobby is decorated with specially commissioned art pieces. A circular art feature inscribed with a well-known welcoming Quranic verse, “A thousand dinar,” is positioned at the main entrance. The second art piece by the Malaysian artist, Abdul Multhalib Musa, is a gold/bronze sculpture resembling an elegant tower. To check-in to the hotel, guests are whipped to Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur’s sky lobby, positioned at the highest level of the building to allow for a view of the city’s skyline with the Petronas Twin Towers as the backdrop.

Duta Grand Hyatt

Previously another Grand Hyatt was planned at the intersection of Jalan Sultan Ismail and Jalan Ampang. In 1994, the Hyatt Group awarded a contract to develop the RM570 million Duta Grand Hyatt project to Kuala Lumpur Landmark Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Olympia Industries Bhd. The holding company of Olympia, Mycom Bhd, then teamed up with Kuala Lumpur Landmark to develop the hotel, which was also meant to house Mycom's headquarters. The project was targeted for completion in 1997.

However, due to the 1997 Asian Financial Crisis, the Mycom group suffered financial difficulties, which led to the halting of construction in July 1998, and the project remains abandoned till-date.
