Gwilym Jones

Gwilym Haydn Jones (born 20 September 1947) is a British Conservative politician. At the 1983 general election, he was elected as Member of Parliament for Cardiff North, retained his seat until the 1997 election,[1] when was defeated by Labour's Julie Morgan.[2] Between 1992 and 1997 he had served as Under Secretary of State in the Welsh Office.[3]

Prior to his election as a Member of Parliament, he served on Cardiff City Council. Elected at 21, he is believed to be the youngest ever member of the Council. He became Deputy Leader and Acting Leader of the Conservative Group.
