Gwilym Prys Prys-Davies, Baron Prys-Davies (born 8 December 1923) is a Welsh Labour politician.

A founder member of the Welsh Socialist Republican Movement, he has long been a strong advocate of devolution for his native Wales.

He changed his surname from Davies to Prys-Davies by Deed Poll to enable his being created a Life Peer as Baron Prys-Davies, of Llanegryn in the County of Gwynedd on 9 February 1983.[1]

He was the Labour candidate in the Carmarthen by-election, 1966 but lost.

In the Lords, he served as Opposition frontbench spokesperson for Health between 1983 and 1987, Northern Ireland between 1982 and 1993 and the Welsh Office between 1987 and 1997. He retired from the House of Lords on 23 May 2015.[2]
