Hong Kong Localism Power (Chinese: 香港本土力量; HKLP), formerly called Hong Kong Nativism Power, is an internet based localist political organisation formed in March 2011. It advocates the protection of the values and culture of the Hong Kong people, in the face of the growing influences of China and the influx of Chinese immigrants in Hong Kong after the handover in 1997.[1][2] The current leading figure of the group is Ho Chi-kwong.
History
Members of the organisation participated in a major anti-government rally on 6 March 2011 which received media attention. They opposed the demand of HK$6,000 cash handouts to non-Hong Kong permanent residents from new immigrants support groups, following the revised 2011 Budget Plan in which the Hong Kong government proposed to offer each Hong Kong permanent resident the mentioned amount. The participants also called for a revision of the current immigration policy.
