The Indie Series Awards (formerly the Indie Soap Awards) is an annual event held by We Love Soaps, LLC, based in Los Angeles, California, honoring the best in independently produced, scripted entertainment created for the web.[1] The ceremony was founded by Roger Newcomb in 2010.[2] As of 2013, after the 5th awards ceremony, the Indie Soap Awards were rebranded as the Indie Series Awards.[3]
The awards ceremony was named as one of the 12 'Must Attend' web series events for creators and fans of online content by Raindance.[4]

History
The award-giving body was established in 2009 by We Love Soaps, LLC, a Manhattan-based media company boutique that champions serialized entertainment in all forms. In 2011, it became a live event for the first time, hosted by Martha Byrne at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater in New York City. The awards ceremony was eventually moved from New York City to Los Angeles in 2014.[5]
The event is now held annually in Los Angeles and often attracts several prominent web series creators and famous soap opera celebrities who are active in the scripted web serial genre, such as Tracie Thoms, Patrika Darbo, Kim Zimmer, and Vincent Pastore among others.[6][7]
The 6th awards ceremony was held on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at the historic El Portal Theatre in Los Angeles, hosted by Emmy award-winning[8] actor Eric Martsolf.[9] Martsolf will return to host the 7th awards ceremony in 2016 alongside Days of our Lives co-star and past ISA nominee Jen Lilley. The ceremony is set for Wednesday, April 6, 2016, at the historic El Portal Theatre in North Hollywood.[10][11][12]

The 4th Annual Indie Soap Awards, or ISA4, was held on February 19, 2013 at the New World Stages, promoting its mission "to bring quality, independently-produced TV series, with socially relevant messaging and artistic merit, to under-served audiences."[citation needed] The nonprofit Indie Series Network is this year's charity sponsor.[17]
