Jamile Samuel first came into the Dutch spotlight as a fifteen-year-old when breaking her club record.[4] By the age of sixteen she was the 60 metres sprint champion in the Netherlands.

At the 2010 World Junior Championships in Moncton Jamile Samuel finished behind the British athlete Jodie Williams in both the 100 m and 200 m sprints.[5][6]
One year later, at the 2011 European Athletics Junior Championships in Tallinn, Samuel once more finished behind 100 and 200 m sprints winner Jodie Williams, this time however winning the silver medal in both cases.
