Jason Strauss

Jason Strauss (born April 7, 1974) was born in New York and is the co-owner and co-founder of marketing firm Strategic Group, a marketing, promotions, and special events company. He is also co-owner and co-founder of The Strategic Hospitality Group. His partner is long-time friend, Noah Tepperberg.

Background

Originally from New York, Strauss attended the Dalton School, followed by St. David's School and Riverdale High School, where he was the captain of his football team. It was during high school when Jason met Noah Tepperberg. The duo formed a lasting partnership that includes many successful endeavors such as Marquee nightclub and Tao restaurant in New York City, LAVO Italian restaurant and nightclub at The Palazzo Hotel in Las Vegas and most recently, AVENUE lounge in New York City.

After graduating from Riverdale in 1992, Strauss went on to study at Boston University, where he graduated with a BS in Hospitality Management and Public Relations. During college, Strauss created a partnership with Matt B. Britton where he expanded his nightlife prominence to Boston.

Career

In 2001, Strauss and Tepperberg formed Strategic Group, a lifestyle marketing, special events, consumer promotions and public relations company. Under the direction of Mr. Strauss, Mr. Tepperberg and their partner Seth Rodsky, the company has worked with some major brands, such as Coca Cola, Mercedes Benz and Yahoo. In 2003, Mr. Strauss founded Strategic Hospitality Group, which owns and operates some of the most successful nightclubs to open in the past decade – Marquee in New York City (2003) and TAO at The Venetian, Las Vegas (2005), which they run in partnership Marc Packer and Rich Wolf.

In 2008, Jason and Noah, along with Mr. Packer and Mr. Wolf, opened LAVO Restaurant & Nightclub at The Palazzo Hotel in Las Vegas. In May, 2009 they introduced their latest nightlife concept, AVENUE, a lounge in Chelsea, Manhattan. With his Tao group partners he then opened Marquee Nightclub & Dayclub at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas on the New Year’s Eve of 2011. Then in March 2012, Strauss and his partners made their first international debut with Marquee Nightclub at The Star Casino & Hotel in Sydney Australia.

Honors and awards

  • Strauss currently Co-Chairs, along with singer Tony Bennett, and sits on the Board of the Marty Hennessey Jr. Tennis Foundation which raises money for USTA-Nevada programs and scholarships.
  • Recipient of Nightclub & Bar’s “Hospitality Operator of the Year” Award in 2006.
  • Honored by In Business Las Vegas as one of their “40 under 40”.
  • Honored by the Harvard Business School in March 2009 through a published case study: “Marquee – The Business of Nightlife” with partner, Noah Tepperberg.
  • Strauss is 1 of 16 Nightlife Professionals to be listed into the Nightclub Hall of Fame [1]

Personal

  • Currently resides in Las Vegas.
  • Spends a month a year in Europe, especially Switzerland visiting parents and family.
  • Plays in Las Vegas tennis summer league.
