John E. Volkmann (1905–1980) was an American industrial scientist who spent his career at RCA, designing studios and auditoria, and sound reinforcement components.

John Volkmann was the first to use variable equalization; in the 1930s he used them to equalize a motion picture theater playback systems.[1]
