Name

The name "Drita" was given because population wants "light" in their city against Serb communist regime.

History

Drita was founded as SHKA "DRITA" in 1947 with the drama section, song, dance and football. Later FC "Drita" acted despite SHKA "DRITA". KF "DRITA" was founded guilds, the bricklayers and senior citizens of the city. The first club players trained in exceptional circumstances and in difficult conditions, without food, with bread and bread, as people say, just to achieve success. They showed their talent with their indomitable will.

Which originally was a thorn in the eyes of the communist regime, because the rest of the city rival team, the preferuarën them, "Crvena Zvezda" , and because the founders of the players were only Albanians and carrying a name slip indicating that the people of this city wants "LIGHT". Therefore, in 1952 the team put out by the regime. Former players went to the Zvezda team multiethnic already. But the founders and the first players or their descendants never forgot not light. Thus, in the 60s gilanli students in Belgrade and elsewhere in the futsal tournament presented with the name "light" until 1977 and reconstituted in great football team and their first date. Undoubtedly, the most merited for the re-establishment of Light was Demush Pajaziti-Klaiqi. After 25 years the Yugoslav authorities forbade Light compete with this name slip in 1977, Demushi showed bravery rare for the time, to re-establish the club with which he was associated as a family, and again with the same name slip, with the same big name "DRITA".

In the years 1978-87 Drita plays in the Second League of Kosova, while in 1987, placed in the First League of Kosovo.

After '90s in managment Drita was taken by Selami Osmani - Bezi, which for 15 years reached peaks of Kosovo football, becoming the anxiety of all Kosovar teams, thanks to players who bring in Gjilan, the legend of the city, bezin , which for 15 years contributed with his whole being to the Light. Under his management the adored Drita came with the title of Kosovo in 2002-03, to win the cup in 2000-01 and was runner-up in 1999-00 and 2001-02. Drita also reached the semi-finals in 1999-00, 2001-02 and 2002-03. Kosovar record breaking four consecutive years down there below the third position for four years and reached at least the semi-finals of the Cup of Kosovo.

But football is not played in Gjilan since 1947. old Gjilangjitë are increasingly prominent as men sevdasë of sports, so that by the end of years our city has had 10 football clubs, but which did not meet the time. First City Club was formed in 1919 and renamed SKG (Gnjilane Sports Club). This shows that this city has a tradition of taking the football clubs in Kosovo before. Then other teams were formed for the city, "Sloga", "Concorde", "Morava", "Graxhanski", "Rapid", etc. In these clubs they play together Albanians, Turks and Serbs. The city was divided into various camps. Often feelings of supporters going to bring problems to the city streets. It happened that matches ended with bloody blows out the need to intervene and police. Even during World War II, the city of love and tradition in football and formed a club called "Bashkimi" and play with the Italian soldiers.

The founders and donors first KF DRITA were Usta Ymer Salihu, teneçexhi, Usta Riza Uzunmehmet, shopkeepers, Vehbi Sherif, commercial, Ahmet Maksuti-Gjakova, commercial, Hamdi Rexhepi, saddler, Kaplan Ymer, shopkeepers, Shaban Rexhepi-Qerkezi, shopkeepers , Ali Usta Gagica, shopkeepers, Arif Pajaziti, etc.

Derbies

After fifty years the dignified representation of the city in 1995 Light took courage to "rival" a group of athletes, creating a new club, KF Gjilani. Although it was not expected that this new club to survive the time, today it represents the biggest rival and hated the Drita.Whenever I played this derby, the eyes of all Albanian fans directed by "Albanian football capital", and besides this derby followed by rival fans, even the curious from all Albanian lands. Drita enjoys unreserved support of all citizens and the city of Gilan, while its rivals, KF Gjilani have their group of supporters "Skifterat".Derby fever begin a month before the match, and last week the entire city "adorned" with the colors of both teams and city rival except for not talking big clash between Drita and KF Gjilani.Early hours of the day, a whole city heads towards the stadium, a few hours before the derby as difficult found the stairs instead of the overcrowded stadium. This derby collects record number of viewers, usually between 10,000 and 15,000 of them, no matter which category are two rival teams. This is considered derby largest local Kosovo and Albanian territories, one of three derby largest local in the Balkans, and is one of 25 local derby of the biggest in Europe, as the 50 derby largest local in the world.

Notes

a. ^ Kosovo is the subject of a territorial dispute between the Republic of Kosovo and the Republic of Serbia. The Republic of Kosovo unilaterally declared independence on 17 February 2008, but Serbia continues to claim it as part of its own sovereign territory. The two governments began to normalise relations in 2013, as part of the Brussels Agreement. Kosovo has been recognised as an independent state by 108 out of 193 United Nations member states.
