KKCD (105.9 FM) is a radio station broadcasting a classic rock format. Licensed to Omaha, Nebraska, USA, the station serves the Omaha area. The station is owned by E.W. Scripps Company.[2]

History

The station went on the air as KUKF on April 19th, 1990, calling itself "The View" and broadcasting a smooth jazz format. On July 19, 1990, the station changed its call sign to KKVU to better fit with the name. The station struggled out of the gate with getting ratings and on November 15th, 1991 flipped formats to classic rock and changed their call sign to KKCD.[3]

Journal Communications and The E.W. Scripps Company announced on July 30, 2014 that the two companies would merge to create a new broadcast company under the E.W. Scripps Company name that will own the two companies' broadcast properties, including KKCD. The transaction is slated to be completed in 2015, pending shareholder and regulatory approvals.[4]
