Kallu Chidambara Rao, popularly known as Kallu Chidambaram (10 October 1945 – 18 October 2015) (Telugu:కళ్ళు చిదంబరం), was an Indian Telugu comic actor.[1][2][3]

Early life

He was born in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, India.[4]

Career

He was an accompolished theatre artist before joining films. He worked and retired as an Assistant Engineer in Visakhapatnam Port Trust. He mostly acted in films shot in and around Visakhapatnam.[5]

He made his film debut in the 1988 Telugu language film Kallu and won the Nandi award.

He acted in many Telugu films in comic roles. Most of the Telugu comedy film directors like E. V. V. Satyanarayana, S.V.Krishna Reddy, and Relangi Narasimha Rao, had given him exclusively comic roles in their films. In 1995, the Telugu socio-fantasy film Ammoru, directed by Kodi Ramakrishna, brought Kallu Chidambaram critical acclaim for his performance.

In 2008, he had founded an artistes federation, Sakala Kalakalrula Samakhya, for artistes and organised monthly programmes.

Personal life

He was married and had two sons and two daughters.
