Kasey Peters (born May 20, 1987) is an American football quarterback for the Duke City Gladiators of Champions Indoor Football (CIF). He first enrolled at Saddleback College before transferring to Santa Ana College, then Grand Valley State University and lastly Rocky Mountain College. He attended Newport Harbor High School in Newport Beach, California. Peters has been a member of the Tri-Cities Fever, New Mexico Stars, West Texas Wildcatters, Duke City Gladiators, Las Vegas Outlaws, New Orleans VooDoo and Portland Steel.

Early years

Peters played high school football at Newport Harbor High School.[1] He threw for 3,700 yards, 39 touchdowns and nine interceptions at Newport Harbor High. He had a 17-3-1 record as a starter.[2] Peters earned All-California Interscholastic Federation honors his senior season and played in the Orange County All-Star Game. He was also his league's offensive player of the year while the Daily Pilot named him its "dream team" player of the year.[3]

College career

Saddleback College

Peters played college football for the Saddleback Gauchos in 2005. He broke his right forearm in the first quarter of the fourth game and missed the rest of the season.[4]

Santa Ana College

Peters transferred to play for the Santa Ana College Dons in 2006. He set single-season school records in completions with 203, passing attempts with 363, passing yards with 2,588 and passing touchdowns with 25. He threw eleven interceptions.[5] Peters also earned J.C. Grid-Wire Honorable Mention All-American honors and Second Team Mission Football Conference National Division recognition.[6][5] He led the Dons to a 7-4 record and a berth in the Western States Bowl.[3]

Grand Valley State University

Peters redshirted for the Grand Valley State Lakers in 2007.[4]

Rocky Mountain College

Peters transferred to play for the Rocky Mountain Battlin' Bears in 2008.[3] He led the Frontier Conference in total offense with 3,581 yards and total offense per game with 325.5 yards in 2008.[7] He scored 28 total touchdowns during the 2008 season.[8] Peters led the Frontier Conference with 4,438 yards of total offense and the NAIA with 403.5 yards of total offense per game in 2009.[9][10][11] He also scored 33 total touchdowns in 2009.[12] Upon appeal in December 2009, he was granted another year of eligibility but he would have to sit out the first three games of the 2010 season.[4][9] In 2010, Peters accumulated 2,720 yards of total offense and 25 total touchdowns.[13] He was named the Frontier Conference Offensive Player of the Year in 2009 and 2010.[14] He played in the Victory Sports Network Senior Classic in April 2011.[15]

Professional career

Tri-Cities Fever

Peters was signed by the Tri-Cities Fever of the Indoor Football League (IFL) in December 2011.[16] He was the backup to Houston Lilliard during the 2012 season and threw eleven passes.[17] In 2013, he became the Fever's starter after Lilliard's departure.[18] Peters started the first five games of the 2013 season, throwing for 690 yards, 12 touchdowns and 8 interceptions.[19][20] He accumulated a 1-4 record with the Fever and was released by the team on April 8, 2013 after three straight losses.[21][19]

New Mexico Stars

Peters signed with the New Mexico Stars of the Lone Star Football League (LSFL) in April 2013.[20] He was named the LSFL's Co-Offensive MVP after throwing for 1,973 yards, 49 touchdowns and three interceptions in seven games.[22][23][24] He helped the Stars finish with a 6-6 record and earn a playoff berth.[24]

West Texas Wildcatters

Peters played for the West Texas Wildcatters of the LSFL in 2014. He suffered a season-ending Achilles injury early in the season.[25][26]

Duke City Gladiators

Peters played for the Duke City Gladiators of Champions Indoor Football (CIF) in 2015.[27] He led the CIF in passing yards per game with 239.8 and total offense per game with 238.2 yards.[28][27] He recorded 34 touchdown passes and one rushing touchdown during the 2015 season. Peters completed 31 passes for 390 yards and nine touchdowns against the Amarillo Venom on May 16.[27]

Las Vegas Outlaws

Peters was assigned to the Las Vegas Outlaws on June 26, 2015.[29] He relieved starter Dennis Havrilla on July 11, 2015 against the Arizona Rattlers, completing five of twelve passes for 41 yards with two interceptions.[30][31] He was placed on recallable reassignment on July 14, 2015.[29]

New Orleans VooDoo

Peters was assigned to the New Orleans VooDoo on July 28, 2015.[32]

Portland Steel

Peters was assigned to the Portland Steel on March 11, 2016.[33] He relieved starter Danny Southwick in the fourth quarter of the team's Week 1 loss to the Arizona Rattlers, completing four of fifteen passes for 52 yards and a touchdown.[34][35] He made his first career AFL start on April 30, 2016, completing 23 of 49 passes for 245 yards and three touchdowns with an interception in a 68-21 loss to the Arizona Rattlers.[36]

Duke City Gladiators

On May 26, 2016, Peters signed with the Duke City Gladiators.[37]
