Kaviya Thalaivan is a 1992 Tamil drama film directed by K. S. Gopalakrishnan. The film features Vijayakanth and Bhanupriya in lead roles. The film had musical score by Aravind Siddhartha and was released on 25 October 1992 on Deepavali.[1][2]

Plot

Priya and Saratha (Bhanupriya) are twins. Priya is a spoiled brat while Saratha is very traditional and calm natured. Their mother Manjula is a party lover and spend all their money for her luxury life. She married their father for his wealth, but Damodaran (M. N. Nambiar) decline to give single penny to manjula after his son's death because of her nature.

Priya grows up with her grandfather Damodaran (M. N. Nambiar) and Saratha is with her mother Manjula in singapore. Saratha longs for her grandfather and the life in India while priya despice it.


Manikkam (Vijayakanth) is a good natured man who goes to jail for the crime committed by his friend Chandru. Upon release he travels in a ship back to India.

Damodaran (M. N. Nambiar) and Priya travel in the same ship after winning a court battle with Manjula on their wealth.

Manikkam saves industrialist Damodaran (M. N. Nambiar) from manjula's goons. Damodaran hires Manikkam as manager in his factory . Priya (Bhanupriya) hates Manikkam right from the start and make several attempts to kick him out.She accuse him for trying to rape her on her birthday, Damodharan use this as a chance to get them married believing only Mannikkam can love and put up with her behaviour.

She continues to hate him but she changes her behaviour when she learns about her grandfather's will. She cannot spend a penny from his wealth if she doesn't lead a family life with manikkam and she will be eligible to become the owner of his properties only if she become a mother.

She tries to get pregnant but with no success. Her friends criticize her for not becoming a mother and they goes to doctor for treatment. Doctor reveals to Manikkam that his wife is sterile and Manikkam decides to take blame as Priya will be broken if she knew the truth.

Priya ask for divorce but he does not agree, she treats him with disrespect and runs off to Singapore. Saratha advise her to go back, but she challenges her to take her place for a month and then she will agree with her. Sara tha use this chance and travels to chennai to be with her grandfather.

Manikkam showers her with love and she struggles to maintain distance. She almost end up in his bed and somehow manage to fall herself from stairs to keep him at distance. They decide to go on a leisure trip where she drinks a drug unknowingly and end up in manikkams bed. She decides to kill herself but is stopped by Damodharan who knew from first that she is Saratha and not Priya.

Damodharan plays a drama and get Saradha and Manikkam married. She gets pregnant and travels to Singapore for delivery.

Meanwhile Manjula is in debt. Pradeep a rich businessman is attracted to Priya and wants her in his bed. Manjula sees this as a way to pay her debts and agree to send Priya to him for an exchange of 10 lakh rupees.

Priya has frequent stomach pain and collapse while escaping Pradeep. At hospital she finds out that she has cancer in uterus and is sterile. She sees a very pregnant Saradha in the same hospital and realise the truth, that manikkam was not sterile.

Saratha come to know about her sister being admitted in same hospital, she leaves the newborn with sleeping priya and leave the hospital but was kidnapped by Pradeep's men. Manikkam follows them and rescue Saradha.

At home Priya confronts Saratha and a shocked manikkam says he only loves Priya and not Saradha and don't care if Priya hates him. Priya apologise to him and dies in his feet by uniting him and Saradha.
