Kocchi Muite! Miiko (Japanese: こっちむいて!みい子?, lit. "Look This Way, Miiko!") is an ongoing shōjo comedy manga series by Eriko Ono. It has been published by Shogakukan in Ciao since 1995 and collected in 28 bound volumes. It is a sequel to an earlier series, Miiko desu! (みい子です!?, "I'm Miiko!"),[1] and depicts the home and school life of a cheerful and energetic fourth-grade girl named Miiko.

Kocchi Muite! Miiko was adapted as a 42-episode anime television series by Toei Animation, which was broadcast on TV Asahi from February 14, 1998 to February 6, 1999, as part of the Anime Syuukan DX! Mi-Pha-Pu anime series.

Characters

  • Miiko Yamada (山田 みい子 Yamada Miiko?) is the protagonist of the series. She is an energetic fifth-grader and can be mistaken for a kindergartner due to her height. Michelle loves eating, which becomes a problem because she gets fat easily (as shown in much of the episodes). Her best friends are Marie Sellena (Mari-Chan), Yvonne Olivia (Yuuko Ogawa), Trevor Eggleson (Tappei Eguchi) and Kenneth Sean (Kenta Satou). She's often found hanging out with her friends or fighting with a boy called Trevor (Tappei) who seems to like Michelle a bit but was too shy to say it to her himself. He called her names instead and sometimes got on Michelle's nerves. Voiced by: Umi Tenjin.
  • Mamoru Yamada (山田 まもる Yamada Mamoru?) is Michelle's younger brother. Unlike his sister, he is very diligent and often teaches Michelle when she's having difficulties with her homework. Matthew liked helping his family, even though it got on his nerves sometimes. Voiced by: Akiko Yajima.
  • Rie Yamada (山田 理絵 Yamada Rie?) is Michelle's mother and is an editor of a magazine. Voiced by: Kotono Mitsuishi
  • Mari Shimura (志村 まり Shimura Mari?) is Miiko's best friend. She is stern on Michelle but she is also a loyal friend. Marie
  • Tappei Eguchi (江口 辰平 Eguchi Tappei?) is Michelle's friend. Trevor is always teasing Michelle, In a way He is hardcore and annoying, But actually He is a Shy, Nice person.
  • Yuuko Ogawa (優子 小川 Ogawa Yuuko?) is Michelle's best friend. She is Nice, Smart and Friendly. She is also Kenneth's Girlfriend
