The Lahaina Civic Center is a sports, convention and entertainment complex located at Kaaahi St & Honoapiilani Hwy in Lahaina, Hawaii, on the island of Maui. It is the site of the annual Maui Invitational Tournament, held every November during Thanksgiving week and hosted by Chaminade University. Other events held at the Civic Center throughout the year include the World Youth Basketball Tournament in July, numerous concerts, trade shows, community festivals and fairs.

Main building

The main building consists of the following:

  • The Civic Center Gymnasium, a 2,400-seat indoor arena with 20,800 square feet (160' by 130') of arena floor space, permanent seating on the East end and retractable bleachers on the North and South ends, limited locker room facilities (there are four) and two public restrooms, among other amenities. The arena floor can accommodate side-by-side recreation courts with the North and South bleachers retracted. The Gymnasium is the site of many events in the complex.
  • The Social Hall, a 4,140-square-foot (90' by 46') meeting room with seating for up to 322 people in air conditioning. It can be divided into two smaller rooms and contains a basic kitchen.

There isn't any loading zone at the meeting room level as this has been removed and replaced with handicapped parking.

There is a war memorial in the breezeway which is hard to find in the daytime when there is no lighting.

  • In addition, there are two sets of public restrooms in the building, three pay phones (two at the main concourse and one at the gym) and numerous water fountains. In addition, Maui County Parks and Recreation is located in this building.

Division of Motor Vehicles used to be in this building.

There is a nice Jacaranda tree on the corner by the Police Department and some nice palm trees.

Amphitheater

The 2,000-seat amphitheater is an open-air auditorium with a 2,176-square-foot (68'-by-32') stage, tiered lawn seating, dressing rooms, and limited sound and lighting systems. The lawn measures 48,360 square feet (4,493 m2).

Other facilities

In addition the Civic Center features five tennis courts, with overhead lighting and water fountains. There is parking for 900 cars.
