Lampona is a genus of spiders in the family Lamponidae and native to Australia and New Guinea. At least two species have a whitish tip to the abdomen and are known as white-tailed spiders. Both have been introduced to New Zealand. Both are hunting spiders, with other spiders their preferred prey.
Name
The genus name is derived from Latin lampo "shine".
