Lewie Steinberg (born September 13, 1933, in Memphis) is an American musician best known as the original bass guitar player for soul music group Booker T. & the M.G.'s.

Steinberg was in the group from 1962 to 1965. He is featured on "Green Onions", its B-side, "Behave Yourself," and the Green Onions album. He recorded one more album with the band, Soul Dressing in 1965. Unlike the first album, every song but one on Soul Dressing was an original. When Steinberg stepped aside, Donald "Duck" Dunn took over on bass.

Steinberg was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992[1] and in 2007 received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. Steinberg currently resides in Memphis, Tennessee.[2]

On November 14, 2010, Steinberg, along with several other members of his family, received a Brass Note on Beale Street's Walk of Fame.[3]
