Liam McHale is a former Irish Gaelic footballer and basketballer who played with the Mayo senior football team from 1985 to 1999.[1] McHale started in the 1996 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Final where Meath defeated Mayo following a replay in which he was sent off.[2] He won an All Star award that same year.[3] He was also a selector for the Mayo team for what was regarded at the time as a humiliation by Kerry in the 2004 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Final - until two years later when Kerry beat Mayo again, this time by an even bigger margin.[4] In October 2014, it was announced McHale would join the Cavan backroom team.
