List of NASCAR fatalities

14 drivers have died at Daytona International Speedway, more than any other circuit.

This is a list compiling drivers who have been fatally injured while competing in or in preparation for (testing, practice, qualifying) races sanctioned by the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR).

The most fatalities that have occurred in a single season is five, which was in 1956. Since the late 1940s, a total of sixty-eight drivers have been fatally injured while driving in NASCAR, seventeen of whom died during the 1950s.

Drivers from the premier series of NASCAR (currently the "Sprint Cup Series") have had the most fatal accidents, with twenty-eight. In addition, all but three of the fatalities involved drivers from the United States (two drivers from Mexico, one from Canada), and all but two of the fatalities happened at NASCAR races held in the United States (two in Mexico).

Safety in the sport has evolved through the decades. Technological advances in roll cages, window nets, seat mounts, air flaps, helmets, driving suits, on-site medical facilities with helicopters, SAFER Barriers[1] and the HANS device[2] are some of the improvements that may have contributed to the decline in fatalities since the 1980s.
