List of United States ODI cricketers
A One Day International (ODI) is a cricket match between two representative teams, each having ODI status, as determined by the International Cricket Council (ICC).[A 1] The first ODI was played between Australia and England on January 5, 1971.[2] The United States (U.S.) played its first ODI under the captaincy of Richard Staple at the Kennington Oval, London on September 10, 2004 against New Zealand.[3] This match occurred during the 2004 ICC Champions Trophy, which took place from September 10 to 25. The U.S. played a total of two matches during this tournament and lost both, failing to qualify for the semifinals. Since that tournament, the United States has not played any more ODIs as they have failed to regain their ODI status.[A 2]
Thirteen players have represented the U.S. in ODI matches, of whom nine played both games.[4] Clayton Lambert has scored the most runs, with 39 runs at an average of 39.00; he also has the highest individual score for the country (39).[A 3][6][7] Mark Johnson acted as wicket-keeper in all of U.S.'s fixtures and made one dismissal, catching Matthew Hayden for 23 off the bowling of Howard Johnson.[8][9] Staple has claimed the most wickets in ODI matches for the U.S., having taken two, and holds the best bowling figures, with 2/76 (two wickets for seventy-six runs) against New Zealand.[10][11] Staple is the only cricketer to captain the U.S. in ODIs.[12]

Notes
- ↑ Representative teams that have ODI status:[1]
- Any teams participating in the ICC Cricket World Cup or ICC Champions Trophy
- Full Members of the International Cricket Council (ICC)
- The top 6 Associate and Affiliate Members of the ICC
- A composite team selected by the ICC as representative of the best players from the rest of the world.
- ↑ After the 2004 Champions Trophy, the U.S. failed to qualify for the 2007 Cricket World Cup after finishing outside of the top five of the 2005 ICC Trophy. Another consequence of this is that the U.S. failed to qualify for Division One of the World Cricket League (WCL), where the top 6 Associate and Affiliate members play. The U.S. has never been promoted to division one since the WCL's inception.
- ↑ 3.0 3.1 Clayton Lambert has also played 11 One Day Internationals for West Indies, before playing for the United States. Only his record for United States is given above.[5] Cite error: Invalid
