The list of shipwrecks in 1975 includes all ships sunk, foundered, grounded, or otherwise lost during 1975.

  • Lovat ( United Kingdom): The coaster sunk in a WNW gale gusting to hurricane force, 25 nautical miles (46 km) south of Penzance. All crew lost.[1]

  • Edmund Fitzgerald ( United States): sank in Lake Superior near Whitefish Bay with the loss of all 29 aboard. The wreck was found in two pieces on the bottom the next year by an ROV. Cause of the wreck is still unknown but suspected hatch failure or possible grounding are the two most likely.

  • Imbros ( Cyprus): foundered in the Atlantic Ocean (Lua error in package.lua at line 80: module 'strict' not found.) with the loss of all 22 crew.[5]
