Louis Gorin de Saint-Amour (Latin: Ludovicus de Sainct-Amour; 27 October 1619 – 15 November 1687) was a French theologian.

Biography

Louis Gorin de Saint-Amour was born in Paris on October 27, 1619. He became a Sorbonne doctor in 1644. In 1650, during the debate on the five propositions attributed to Jansenius, he distinguished himself by being one of the main defenders of the Jansenist point of view. In 1656, he was expelled from the Sorbonne after supporting Antoine Arnauld, condemned for his Seconde lettre à un duc et pair. He probably took part in the 1659 corrections to the third edition of the Provincial Letters, the last in Pascal's lifetime. He died in Saint-Denis on November 15, 1687.
