Manwich is the brand name of a canned sloppy joe sauce produced by ConAgra Foods and Hunt's, introduced in 1969. The can contains seasoned tomato sauce that is added to cooked ground beef in a skillet. It is marketed as a quick and easy one-pan meal for the whole family. Manwich's slogan is, "A sandwich is a sandwich, but a Manwich is a meal."

Manwich Heat & Serve was introduced in 2004. It contains both the seasoned tomato sauce and ground beef in a microwavable bowl.

There are currently three different flavors of Manwich; Original, Bold and Thick & Chunky.[1]

Use in pop culture

Product placements for Manwich are visible in various series:

  • In episode 17 of That 70s Show Season 3, Hyde is the only one who remembers to congratulate Kitty on her birthday. She asks him to stay for dinner in return to which he replies that he'll just "grab a sandwich". She replies "A sandwich! Steven, a sandwich is a sandwich, but a Manwich is a meal".
  • In Futurama, Hermes Conrad is noted for often losing his manwiches.[2] In "The Deep South", after a giant fish eats his sandwich, he shouts, "My Manwich!"[3] His son, Dwight, also says it when a troublemaking ruffian from school takes his Manwich in "The Route of All Evil".
  • In an episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000, the robot character Tom Servo tells Joel that he'd rather have a manwich instead of waffles (which Joel had made several amounts and talked of various recipes).
  • The 6th episode from Season 2 of 2 Broke Girls is titled "and the Candy Manwich", referring to an attractive male character who owns a candy store.[4]

Manwich is mentioned in the Insane Clown Posse song "Chicken Huntin'"
