Melbourne tram route 8 is operated by Yarra Trams on the Melbourne tram network. It operates from Moreland to Toorak.

Like most Melbourne tram routes, route 8 operates entirely in Myki Zone 1. The 15.7 kilometre route is operated by Z, B and D1 class trams from Brunswick and Malvern depots.[1][2]

History

The current route 8 commenced operating on 17 October 2004, when route 8 Melbourne University to Toorak was combined with route 22 Moreland to Arts Precinct.[3]

In February 2015, Yarra Trams released plans to build a centre platform at Toorak, 100 metres west of the present terminus.[4]

The route is scheduled to be discontinued in July 2015, being replaced by alterations of routes 1, 6 and 55.[5]

Route

Stop 1 is located at the Melbourne University, which is in the middle of the route, with stop numbers increasing in both directions.
