Music and Lyrics: Music from the Motion Picture is the 2007 soundtrack from the film Music and Lyrics. It was released by Atlantic Records on February 13, 2007 and features songs performed by the film's stars Hugh Grant, Drew Barrymore, and Haley Bennett. The album reached #5 on the Billboard Top Soundtracks Chart [2] and #63 on the Billboard 200.[3]

Eventhough Haley's version of "Buddha's Delight," appeared in the film "Music and Lyrics," her's was not the original version.

The original version of "Buddha's Delight" which contains alternate lyrics as a seductive ode to sexual entrapment, was recorded in early 2006 by then 19 year old Los Angeles based singer/songwriter Rachel Perry.

Perry self-released her version of the song on her now hard to find EP titled "Girl With The World In Her Eyes" (2006), which was simultaneously released on soundclick.com (one year before the more famous "Music and Lyrics" film version was released) and is still available for listening as a nondownloadable streaming single. Rachel's version also contains an alternate accompaniment sound mix, which is slightly different than the synthesizer and guitar hybrid heard in Haley Bennett's version.

Eventhough Haley's version of "Buddha's Delight" went on to become popular worldwide, fans of the song and film who have found Rachel's version find it far more appealing and have expressed feeling appalled that she wasn't chosen to portray Cora over Bennett.

The song "Invincible" performed by Haley Bennett which plays at the end of the film credits does not appear on the soundtrack. The same is true for the song "Work to Do", written by Adam Schlesinger (who wrote most of the songs for the film), and performed by the folk band America (whose fortunes mirrored the ups and downs of the pop career of Hugh Grant's character in the film), and which plays only at the end of the film credits, is not included in the film soundtrack album.
