General Myat Hein (Burmese: မြတ်ဟိန်း) was a Burmese general and the commander of Myanmar Air Force. As such he is titled as the Commander-in-Chief (Air).[2]
During 2001, Myat Hein held the rank of colonel and served in the post of Chief of Staff (Air).[3] The following year, Myat Hein remained as Chief of Staff (Air), and was promoted to brigadier general.[4] By 2003 he had been appointed Commander-in-Chief (Air) and held the rank of major general.[5] During his time as the Air Force commander, Myat Hein has maintained close links with China[6] and India.[7]
Myat Hain is married to Htwe Htwe Nyunt.[8]
On 13 February 2013, he was retired from military and became Minister of Communications and Information Technology.[9]
The European Union has ordered that Myat Hein's funds be frozen inside its jurisdiction.[8]
