Noël Patrocles, seigneur de Thoisy (died 1671) was an early governor general of the French Antilles whose term was marked by constant disputes b his predeccessor, who eventually had him returned to France.
Career
Noël Patrocles, chevalier, seigneur de Thoisy, a king's councillor, was named the King's lieutenant general of the American Islands, and senechal of Saint Christopher Island on 20 February 1645. He took office in Martinique on 22 August 1645. His predecessor, Phillippe de Longvilliers de Poincy, constantly disputed his authority, and had him arrested in Martinique on 17 January 1647, held in prison on Saint Christopher for two months, then sent back to France. On 25 February 1647 de Poincy was reestablished as governor by a decree of the local council of state.[1]
