"On the Way Down" is the debut single by Ryan Cabrera, released from his 2004 studio album, Take It All Away. The song won a 2006 ASCAP Pop Award for most performed song of that year.[1] The song was co-written with Curtis Frasca and Sabelle Breer who also helped create hit songs for Stacie Orrico and Avril Lavigne. It reached number one on airplay charts and peaked at number 15 on the Billboard Hot 100 on October 5, 2004. Backup vocals on this track are done by John Rzeznik member of The Goo Goo Dolls.

Music video

The music video features Ashlee Simpson, his then girlfriend, playing Ryan Cabrera's love interest. The music video for the single was filmed in Austin, Texas, at the University of Texas in Austin. The music video for On The Way Down reached #4 on the TRL countdown.
