List of One Tree Hill episodes

The sixth season of One Tree Hill, an American television series, began on September 1, 2008 and concluded on May 18, 2009 with a total of 24 episodes. This is the third season to air on The CW television network. Season six regular cast members include Chad Michael Murray, James Lafferty, Hilarie Burton, Bethany Joy Galeotti, Sophia Bush, Paul Johansson, Lee Norris, Antwon Tanner, Jackson Brundage, Barbara Alyn Woods, and Lisa Goldstein.

The seasons seventh episode, "Messin' with the Kid" achieved a series high in Adults 18–34 with a 2.7 rating.[1]

Season six is the final season for original cast members Chad Michael Murray and Hilarie Burton.[2] Their characters, Lucas and Peyton, leave Tree Hill with their newborn baby in the finale.[3]

Overview

Lucas proposes to Peyton. They decide to get married. Peyton gives Lucas the startling news that she is having his baby. Nathan tries to make a comeback in basketball, Haley has to make a decision involving her career, Brooke takes in a young girl named Sam and deals with being attacked in her own store, and Dan spends time with Jamie as he waits on a heart transplant. Meanwhile, a movie producer named Julian Baker comes to Tree Hill and wants to make An Unkindness of Ravens into a movie.

Dan finds a mysterious grave while unsuccessfully trying to run away from Carrie's house.

Meanwhile Sam and Brooke bond.

Peyton and Mick have a confrontation over his identity. The episode ends with Mouth giving up his dream job for his dream girl, and he and Lucas drive home to Tree Hill.

Owen returns to Brooke but she rejects him. To stop Jamie from being bullied Nathan comes to his school wearing a cape and shows the other kids how cool it is to have a cape by slam dunking.

As Lucas is talking on the phone with Peyton in present time, Lucas falls asleep and has a film noir dream about a club he owns in an alternate reality. Haley's on stage and Dan practically owns her. Nathan's a bartender who's deployed to war not before he have Haley elope, Skills a piano player, Brooke's desperate for money and Peyton is sort of with Dan. Mouth discovers Dan's true intentions and whilst trying to uncover the truth, he is thrown off a bridge by Dan, And Lucas and Dan face off ending in Peyton and Julian's deaths. Then, Lucas wakes up, realizing it was all a dream. Peyton collapses after making a call to Lucas after he wakes up from his dream.[16][17]

As Lucas takes a trip to Hollywood to meet his film director, Nathan gets a pro basketball try-out. Peyton struggles with Mia to focus on her follow-up album, and Millicent confronts Mouth about Gigi. Julian approaches a dubious Brooke about designing clothes for his movie, and Haley takes a reluctant Jamie to his school talent show. Meanwhile, Peyton fears she may have cancer, because it runs in the family.[19]

Peyton shares some startling news with Lucas. Brooke frantically searches for runaway Sam, and in doing so, she encounters some obstacles which confronts Brooke to recall the night of her attack. In the meantime, Millicent confesses to Mouth that she has slept with someone and Lucas discovers that Julian has been keeping another secret from him when trouble arise at the company. Chase returns to find Owen has reverted back to his old ways (guest star Stephen Colletti).

Haley and Nathan double up with Mia and Chase on their date. Millie attempts to reconcile her relationship with Mouth to no avail.

Peyton is rushed to surgery after losing blood and fainting. On the eve of Peyton's delivery, Peyton and Lucas receive a surprise visit from a friend of theirs, and they welcome a daughter, Sawyer Brooke Scott. Victoria finally understands Brooke's pain, and gives her the company back. They make amends and Victoria urges Brooke to do one special thing. Nathan is released from the Chiefs but gets surprising news he's made it to the NBA. Facing death, Dan visits someone from the past, and apologizes for everything that happened. Dan wants him to take his life, but he offers redemption to Dan. Lucas, Peyton and Sawyer pack up their stuff, and ride away in to the sunset with the newly repaired Comet, leaving Tree Hill for good as this season finale closes.

Production

The CW announced on March 3, 2008 that One Tree Hill was renewed for a sixth season.[33] It was later reported the season would consist of twenty-four episodes.[34]

Storylines

Brooke begins her battle with her mom, Victoria, who battles to claim Clothes Over Bro's. Lucas and the Ravens basketball team must come to terms with the death of the star player. Nathan begins his comeback, Haley also hits the recording studio, while Peyton and Lucas settle down and begin a family. Brooke, left broken and shaken after her attack, takes in foster child Sam, who was responsible for the attack, and the attacker also turned out to be Q's killer. Nanny Carrie returns, after hitting Dan with a car, and taking him hostage, she lures Haley and Jamie to her, and attacks them, only to be killed by Dan, after weeks of torture. Mouth and Millicent have dramas and depart, while newcomer Julian Baker, rocks Brooke's world and begins to turn Lucas' book into a movie. With Peyton's alarming pregnancy, Lucas' finally allows for a wedding, only for Peyton to collapse at home, and go into a coma. The season finale ends with Brooke and Julian declaring their love for one another, Nathan making it into the NBA, and Lucas and Peyton leave Tree Hill.

Reception

The season opened to 3.24 million viewers and a 1.7 Adults 18–49 rating. Episode 7 hit series highs in Adults 18–34 with a 2.7 rating, it also hit its second best numbers in The CW's target audience of Women 18-34 with a 4.0 rating.[1] The episode also reached its highest Adults 18–49 rating of the season, with a 1.9.[12] The finale was seen by 2.67 million viewers and achieved a 1.3 Adults 18–49.[32]

DVD release

The DVD release of season six was released after the season has completed broadcast on television. It has been released in Region 1. As well as every episode from the season, the DVD release features bonus material such as audio commentaries on some episodes from the creator and cast, deleted scenes, gag reels and behind-the-scenes featurettes.
