Orikasa Station (織笠駅 Orikasa-eki?) is a JR East railway station located in Yamada, Iwate Prefecture, Japan. The station was destroyed by the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami.[1] Operations at the site of the station have been replaced by a provisional Bus Rapid Transit line.

Orikasa Station was served by the Yamada Line, and was located 130.8 rail kilometers from the terminus of the line at Morioka Station.

Station layout

Orikasa Station had a single side platform serving traffic in both directions. The station was unattended.

History

Orikasa Station opened on 10 November 1936. The station was absorbed into the JR East network upon the privatization of the Japan National Railways (JNR) on April 1, 1987. The station was washed away by the March 11, 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami.
