"Petit Papa Noël" (literally little Christmas Dad) is a 1946 song recorded by French singer Tino Rossi. Written by Raymond Vincy and Henri Martinet, this Christmas song was originally performed by Rossi in Richard Pottier's film Destins.[1] It is currently the best-selling single of all time in France, with over 5,711,000 units sold.[2] The song peaked at #6 on December 28, 1991[3] (the French SNEP Singles Chart was created on November 4, 1984), and was ranked every year under several labels, including Disques Pathé, Fifty Five and M6 Interactions (every label is charted separately).[4] The song has been covered by many artists over the years.

The song has been covered and released as singles by Bébé Lilly, Pinocchio & Marilou, Roberto Alagna, Roch Voisine, Céline Dion (both solo and a duet with Alvin and the Chipmunks), Julien Neel (Trudbol), and The Smurfs. Other versions only available on an album including those by Dalida (1960), Paul Mauriat (1967), Michèle Torr (1977), Nana Mouskouri (1972), Boney M. (1981), Claudia Jung (1996), Daniela Simmons (2006), Nicole (1994), Mireille Mathieu and Josh Groban (2007), and Mary J. Blige (2013).
