Plagiodontia is a genus of rodent in the family Capromyidae. The name Plagiodontia means "oblique tooth" in Greek.
This genus contains the following four species (three of them extinct):
- Hispaniolan hutia (Plagiodontia aedium) F. Cuvier, 1836
- † San Rafael hutia or wide-toothed hutia (Plagiodontia araeum) Ray, 1964
- † Samana hutia (Plagiodontia ipnaeum) Johnson, 1948
- † Plagiodontia spelaeum
