Template:/box-header Portal:Boxing/Intro Boxing is a sport in which competitors try to defeat each other by fighting, with gloved fists and (in amateur boxing and "sparring fights") protective headgear, usually inside a roped, squared ring. The sport is divided into two organized competition fractions, which are amateur and professional boxing. Amateur boxing competitions are featured in the Olympic Games which are considered the highest level of competition for male and female amateur boxers. Professional boxing, meanwhile, is for pay fighting, in which male and female boxers compete for world championships sanctioned by four major international boxing groups, the International Boxing Federation, World Boxing Association, World Boxing Council and World Boxing Organization, as well as for other, minor sanctioning organizations' belts.
