Procter is an unincorporated community and former steamboat landing on Kootenay Lake in British Columbia, Canada. It is located on the south side of the entrance of that lake's West Arm from its Main Arm, just northeast of the city of Nelson.[1]

The settlement was named either for Thomas Gregg Procter, owner of the Kootenay Valley Company, a land promotions company in the region around the turn of the 20th Century, or for another Mr. Procter who had also been part of the CPR Survey in this area and was Chief Engineer for the Department of Railways.[2]
