Ricardo López Aranda (December 23, 1934 – November 25, 1996) was a Spanish playwright.

Ricardo López Aranda was a prolific writer. He wrote over 60 plays, most of which were very successful. Half of his written plays were staged. Aranda's writing talents were not limited to the theater. He authored several television scripts and screenplays. His screenplay for the film Close to the Stars, which was based on his play, won more than a dozen awards at various film festivals. He also wrote poetry, and published over 30 books of poetry. It is absurd that a such a versatile and prolific writer did not earn fame during his lifetime. But the reason for this was the writer's own desire for anonymity. He did not have a wish to publish his works, although he did allow for his plays to be performed.[1]
