Robert "Bobby" Hurley (born 26 September 1988 in Melbourne) is an Australian swimmer[1] and former world record holder in the short-course (25 metre pool) 50 metres backstroke. In 2009 he won a bronze medal as a team member on the 4 × 200 m freestyle relay at the FINA World Championships in Rome.

Hurley is a middle and distance freestyle specialist and was an Australian Institute of Sport scholarship holder.

Career

2008 World Championships (SC)

Hurley competed at the 2008 World Short Course Championships in Manchester, England. He swam in six events and picked up a gold medal in the 4 × 200 m freestyle relay as a heat swimmer.

2009 World Championships

Hurley picked up a bronze medal in the 4 × 200 m freestyle relay behind the USA and Russian Federation, he swam the second leg. Other events contested included 400m freestyle (11th), 800m freestyle (10th), 1500m freestyle (14th) and 100m backstroke (32nd).
