Ruth Judith Klee

Ruth Goslar (23 October 1901 – 28 October 1942), born Ruth Judith Klee, was the mother of Hanneli Goslar, who was a close and best friend of Anne Frank. She was a teacher. Ruth died in 1942 during childbirth of her third child.

Biography

Ruth was born in Germany to Jewish parents, Alfred and Therese Klee. She married Hans Goslar in the 1920s. The couple strictly observed religion. She gave birth to a daughter, Hanneli, on 12 November 1928. In 1933, after Adolf Hitler came to power, Ruth and her family escaped to Amsterdam. There they became close friends to the Franks. Ruth gave birth to another daughter, Gabi, in 1940.[1]

Death

Ruth was expecting another baby, in 1942.[2] She died while giving birth to that baby and the baby was stillborn.

Her daughters, Hanneli and her younger sister, Gabriela Goslar, survived Bergen-Belsen concentration camp, and Hanneli today lives in Israel with Gabi.
