E10 1744 at Grängesberg. The 2004 parked in disrepair locomotive belonged to Beredskapsreserven

This Class was classified as E10, after the 1945 by the Halmstad–Nässjö Järnväg (HNJ) acquired locomotives G12 42–47 after the nationalization of the private railway had been given the Class E9. The properties of these locomotives as low axle load, high traction and good tracking impressed those in charge of SJ. Therefore, the E9 formed the technical basis for the E10 locomotives. The E10 differed from the E9 by roller bearings, enclosed cabs and the tender of the type G5.

In the 1960s, some of the locomotives of the standby reserve (Swedish Beredskapslok) were allocated and remained operable in use. The remaining machines were shut down around 1973 and scrapped thereafter.
