Sahasam Swasaga Sagipo is an upcoming 2016 Telugu romantic thriller film written and directed by Gautham Menon. The film stars Naga Chaitanya in the lead role. It is a bilingual project being filmed alongside Menon's Tamil film titled Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada. The film features music composed by A. R. Rahman. The film's premiere date has been locked, with it slated to release across India on July 15, 2016.[1]

Playback singer Baba Sehgal was chosen to portray a negative role as a cop. Filming began in mid-November 2013 with a ten-day schedule in Adyar, Chennai. Scenes featuring Silambarasan and Sathish Krishnan were shot. Further, the shooting progressed during the nights, in and around Kalakshetra and Thiruvanmiyur. A second schedule began in early December 2013 featuring scenes with the lead cast in urban Chennai. The film was shot for thirty days and was put on hold until Menon completed filming Yennai Arindhaal. The filming continued after February 21, 2015. A. R. Rahman's inclusion in the project was confirmed in December 2013. Filmmaker Menon described the film as one which starts as a "love story" which then enters a "violent / action space." Silambarasan supported this statement, saying that just as with its partner Achcham Enbadhu Madamaiyada, it will be in a similar genre to Menon's previous films Ye Maya Chesave and Yenthavadu Gani.[2]

In May 2015, Akkineni Naga Chaitanya was brought aboard Sahasam Swasaga Sagipo, as a Telugu version of Gautham’s Tamil romantic drama Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada. Heroine Pallavi Subhash from the film’s Tamil version was replaced by a newcomer actress likely to be paired with Simbu as well as Naga Chaitanya for both versions of the movie.[3] In December 2013, A. R. Rahman was officially confirmed to compose songs.[4] Though previously Marc Koninckx was reported to be under consideration for cinematography, Dan Macarthur was the DP confirmed.[5] Shooting for the Tamil version commenced while the team was still in the process of casting a female lead opposite Silambarasan.[3] In April 2015, it was announced that Pallavi Subhash would star in both versions opposite Silambarasa,[6] but in May and due to schedule conflicts, she had to depart the project[7][8] to be then replaced by Manjima Mohan.[9]

Soundtrack

Sahasam Swasaga Sagipo soundtrack was composed by A. R. Rahman.[10]

As per the urgency of shooting, a single track with lyrics penned by Madhan Karky was recorded within three hours by the composer at his studio in Los Angeles. Recording of the songs began in February 2015.
