Alexander Carpendale "Sandy" McPhie (born 10 February 1929) is a former Australian politician.

He was born in Charleville to Hector Kitchener McPhie and Florence Nellie, née Shanasy. He attended North Toowoomba State School and Toowoomba Grammar School before studying at The King's School in Parramatta. He then received a Certificate of Agricultural Science from Queensland Agricultural College, and was later an external student with the University of New England. In 1945 he became a stock and station agent, but in 1951 he joined the Royal Australian Air Force, serving as a cadet pilot until 1952, when he became a jackeroo at Quilpie. In 1954 he began farming at Chinchilla, but in 1962 he returned to the RAAF as an air traffic control officer, eventually gaining the rank of wing commander. In 1983 he retired from the air force to become a real estate salesman and licensed investment consultant in Toowoomba. A member of the National Party, he was elected to the Queensland Legislative Assembly in 1983 as the member for Toowoomba North, serving until his defeat in 1989.[1]
