Scatter My Ashes is the debut album by Octet Ensemble. It contains compositions by American composer William Susman. The album was released June 10, 2014 on Belarca Records with distribution through Naxos of America.[1] There are two song cycles on the album Scatter My Ashes and Moving in to an Empty Space with poems by the composer's sister Sue Susman.[2]

Critical reception

In Fanfare magazine, the album was praised highly: "...this heavy minimalist-tinged music offers constant delight...impeccably crafted and played by all concerned with pinpoint accuracy."[3] The album also received praise from Second Inversion, stating that, "...the album stands as a timeless combination of contemporary classical music, minimalism, and jazz into a profound and dynamic multidisciplinary work."[4] The album was picked as one of the top 20 releases of 2014 by the experimental music publication, "textura."[5] AllMusic states "the next developments in the sphere (of) minimalism".[6]
