Built in the year 1987 by Somdutt Builders, who also constructed the elevated four-lane highway on the by-pass of the city, it once served as a market famous for fashionable clothes and leather goods but gradually converted to electronics bazaar. Also known as 'Nehru Place' of Kanpur it is now a buzzing place holding a majority of shops for computers, mobiles and other electronic items. Though lack of maintenace has snatched away the sheen of the mall with poorly lit corridors, permanently closed escalators, fountains and poorly maintained toilets, it still serves as an important business hub for IT products and leather goods(shoes, jackets etc.).
