The Deep is an Australian/Canadian co-produced animated television series based on the graphic novels created by Tom Taylor and James Brouwer[1] and published by Gestalt Comics. The series was optioned by Technicolor[2] and produced by A Stark Production and the Canadian animation studio Nerd Corps Entertainment, a subsidiary of DHX Media.[3] It premiered on 7TWO on December 1, 2015 and began broadcasting in Canada the following month on Family Chrgd.

It is set to be broadcast on CBBC (UK), Ketnet (Belgium), NRK (Norway), SVT (Sweden) and YLE (Finland) and Super RTL, (Germany).[4]

Synopsis

The series follows the Nekton family, a family of daring underwater explorers who live aboard a state-of-the-art submarine, The Aronnax, and explore uncharted areas of the earth’s oceans to unravel the mysteries of the deep.

1 "Here Be Dragons"
A dragon-hunting expedition leads Ant to find an ancient scroll that holds clues to an amazing mystery. But his family are trapped by the dragon and only Ant and Jeffrey can save them! And Jeffrey's a fish!
2 "The Dark Orca"
The Dark Orca pirates attack! They believe the Nektons have a rare treasure aboard their sub. To escape, Kaiko is going to have to guide the Aronnax through an erupting, undersea volcano! But can the sub survive?
3 "A.I.M.Y."
A new artificial intelligence running the sub stops the Nektons from saving a kayaker because it's too dangerous. When the Nektons try to shut her down, she takes over completely! Can Ant outwit A.I.M.Y. and save the day?
4 "Digging Deeper"
The object that Will and Ant are retrieving from the deepest part of the ocean is not what they expected. Is it a weapon? They've been duped. And now there's a stowaway on the Aronnax, trying to take control of it.
5 "The Devil's Sea Mystery"
Are aliens stealing things from an island and dragging them underwater? Ant believes that's perfectly reasonable. The Nektons investigate and find something even more dangerous! But can they escape?
6 "Lonesome Jim"
Someone just stole the rarest tortoise in the world and the Nektons are searching for it. But the man who stole it secretly wants to capture them too! The Nektons are walking into a trap.
7 "Captured"
Captain Hammerhead captures the Nektons aboard his sub. But his vessel is shonky, rusty and going to sink at any moment. If the Nektons manage to escape, would they help their adversary?
8 "The Test"
To find a piece of the mysterious Ephemychron, the Nektons have to fight off whirlpools, zero visibility and giant robotic jellyfish. Is Nereus doing this to them? If not, who is really behind this unusual test?
9 "Fossil"
Huge, prehistoric crocodiles still inhabit an underwater cave system the Nektons are exploring. Ant befriends a new hatchling much to the annoyance of it's mother!
10 "Colossal Squid"
Ant and Fontaine hunt for the rarest of ocean creatures, the colossal squid. But what happens when it turns out to be smarter than you and thinks you look tasty?
11 "Monster Hunter"
The Nektons meet online superstar Devil Daniels who will stop at nothing to reach the fame that he seeks - but can the Nektons protect a creature that he has his sights on in particular?
