The Glass Ocean was an Indie rock band from Atlanta, Georgia.

Biography

The Glass Ocean began after founding members Keller Harbin and Josh Beiser left The Chariot in May 2006 after releases Everything Is Alive, Everything Is Breathing, Nothing Is Dead, and Nothing Is Bleeding and the Unsung EP. Deciding to take a different approach, The Glass Ocean has gone through a considerably slow evolutionary process. A brief period by Keller Harbin as bassist for Every Time I Die meant that the band did not rush into releasing their music to a wide audience but instead played many local shows in the Atlanta area also stating their desire not to rely on the success of their previous musical endeavors and inevitably rush their music.

The band's first release, the self-financed Put on the Wooden Overcoat EP was released on April 29, 2008 and was made available from the band's website and as a download from iTunes.

The band has stated in interviews that they are not a Christian band, though it continues to be a common misconception.[1]

It is rumored that the band is writing and recording a full length as of February. The label that will release the record is unknown.

The band posted this blog on their Myspace about their band's end: Hello everyone.

It has been some time since you have heard from us in any capacity. Suffice to say, The Glass Ocean has come to an end and we will not be continuing as a band.

It doesn't look like we will play a final show, so if you saw us with Winston Audio and Death on Two Wheels back in July then you also saw our final performance. Thank you to everyone who has supported us or shown interest in the band, we truly appreciate everything.

We still have some merch online available to anyone who wants it, the shirts are $6 and EPs are $5. Maybe buy some shirts and donate them to a homeless shelter, I also hear that cd's make great drink coasters nowadays.

You never really know where life will take you. Keller is married and has his beautiful daughter Lettie, Nick and his girlfriend also just recently welcomed their daughter Elise into the world. Justin is going to school and collecting bicycles in his garage, Heath is bartending at Six Feet Under and is development of a website called SkeetTweet, a twitter-esque website for sexual escapades and what-have-you. I work at a shoe store and sell Nikes to kids in neon colors and bad haircuts.

We may post a few other updates in the future. There is a chance that Keller and I may post a few last demos and songs that we were working on before we called it quits. We're also both working on a project called Mountain Home Recording and more details may be available on that soon.

In any case, I hope everyone is enjoying the colder weather and living their lives the best that they can. It's hard to give up on something that you love and spent so much time on, but that is just how it works out sometimes. The end is built into the beginning.

Thanks to all,

Beiser and TGO
