The Polyphonics Barbershop Chorus is a male, a cappella choir specialising in the barbershop style of choral singing. The choir is based in Carrigaline, a satellite town for Cork City and attracts members from Cork City and County.[citation needed]

It claims to be Ireland’s longest established barbershop chorus since it was formed in 1980.[citation needed] It has been a member of the Irish Association of Barbershop Singers ever since the I.A.B.S association was inaugurated in 1988.[1] The Polyphonics have been crowned National Male Chorus Champions in the National Barbershop Convention on 10 occasions, most recently in 2009.[2] They also won the National Light Jazz and Popular Music Competition in the Cork International Choral Festival in 2006.[citation needed] [3]

In recent years the choir have performed at The Maritime Festival in Dublin, Sproai Festival Waterford, and The Cork International Choral Festival. They have performed amongst other venues in the Cork Opera-House, the Everyman Palace Theatre Cork, The Helix in Dublin and Cork City Hall. They are regular performers at the St Patrick’s Weekend Festival Cork and The Lord Mayor’s Picnic, Cork. They have appeared on TG4 (T.V) and performed on Cork's 96FM (local radio).[citation needed]
