Thummala Nageswara Rao is a minister and a member of Telangana Rashtra Samithi from Telangana.[1] He is one of the prominent politicians from Khammam district.

Early life

Nageshwar Rao was born on 5 November 1953 and is from Gollagudem village of Dammapeta Mandal in Khammam District. He completed B.Com before entering in politics.

Political career

He joined TDP in 1982 election but lost the 1983 election. He once served the State Government of Andhra Pradesh as a minister for Heavy Water Irrigation Projects and Excise as a Telugu Desam party member under Chandra Babu Naidu. He was elected thrice to Assembly from Sathupalli Constituency as Legislative Member. Though is actually from Sathupally, due to changes in reservation of seats in constituencies, he contested from Khammam and defeated his opponents Younis Sulthan and Jalagam Venkatrao in 2009 elections. In the 2014 election, he lost the Khammam seat to Congressional candidate Puvvada Ajay Kumar by a margin of little over 6,000 votes.

He joined in Telangana Rashtra Samithi[2] and was inducted into cabinet in December 2014 and serving as Minister for Roads and Buildings Department in present TRS Government.[3]

In 2016 Rao contested in Palair by-election as Telangana Rashtra Samithi candidate and won with a majority of 45,676 votes.[4]
