Tijuca Tênis Clube is a Brazilian sports club based in the Tijuca neighborhood, in Northern Zone of the city. The club is best known for its basketball team. Besides basketball in the club of Tijuca TC there are other sports such as futsal, swimming, and a lot of other sports.[1]

History

Tijuca was founded in 1915, initially as a tennis club. Basketball was introduced later and became the club's most popular sport. Tijuca reached the final of the state championship nine times, losing them all. In the last three finals, in 2010, 2011 and 2012, Tijuca lost to Flamengo. But in 2011, the team won the Super Copa Brasil, after a game against Liga Sorocabana, and acquired the right to dispute NBB 2011–12. In that season, Tijuca finished the regular season in twelfth place. In the playoffs, the team was beaten by Uberlândia.
