Velappar Temple is a temple that is situated at about 15 Kilometers from Andipatti, in Madurai district, Tamil Nadu, India. It is in the midst of mountains and is reachable by climbing some 300 steps.

The Main deity is lord Muruga and the temple is also called Mavuthu Velappar Temple. The pooja is still conducted by the Paliyars.

The temple is by the side of stream. The specialty is that, the water comes out as a natural spring from among the roots of the mango trees and forms into a stream. That is why it is called Mavuthu. Ma stands for mango in Tamil and Uthu refers to the spring in Tamil.
